I’ve been trying to have good habits for the last 6 months, honestly for my whole life. However, few things succeeded. I always had to repeat the failures of my will and re-try.
It’s been six months to participate in the Handalus program. And I’ve been writing quite much constantly. So, do I feel that I have a habit of writing every day? My answer is no because I do not automatically write every day yet. I just put myself in a proper environment for writing every day. Sometimes my inner voice says to skip it today and the conflict with myself starts.
I wanted to know why I don’t/can’t unconsciously keep doing my routine or activities and why I dispute with myself not to drop bad habits. Unfortunately I don’t think that the book HABIT gives me the answer yet. However, it made me look back to my activities.
This month I made a habit tracker and I’ve been keeping the records. Today was just in time to check around the 3-week record. I have good records and bad ones. I thought about why the results were different because all the habits I’ve been trying are physically at the similar level. I supposed that the reason was my different feeling to access them. It was the environment that allowed us to do it or not.
I wanted to be different than I was yesterday and I know very well that I waste time with my phone. I can't drop it from my hand. So, I decided to try a small change. I wrote down a list of things I must do and want to do each day. Then, I sorted my apps on the phone. I put only a clock and to-do checklist on the first page and the apps for jobs and education were spread on the second page. The others were grouped and made inconvenient to open. I also wanted to divide my place into zones for each function. So I moved a bit of furniture.
Now I don’t know what result today’s change will bring. After a month, I think that I’ll have another difference.
